Cath & Dan Lyons 23 September 2017 London

I love a good London wedding! This one was even more special as it was one of the loveliest couples getting married.  Cath, a fab former work colleague of mine was getting married to Dan, the love of her life, who is in the Armed Forces which gave the wedding a military flavour to it.  Men in uniform.. what can I say!  The other special thing was that Cath and Dan were sharing this special day with their little (yet to be born) bump.  The Union Jack Club at Waterloo has some lovely flats upstairs where the bridal party and families were getting ready for the special day.  (We were to return here later in the day for the reception).  Hours after getting ready (and Cath mainly making sure that everyone else was ready and happy, which is her usual caring style) later stunning bride Cath walked down the most amazing and breathtaking aisle I have ever seen.. the Guards’ Chapel, Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk, Westminster, London.  Standing next to Dan dressed in his army dress uniform, surrounded by family and friends as well as a multitude of regimental flags hanging to attention on the ceilings.  Even when I scouted out the Chapel a week earlier, it had a surreal spiritual feel to it.  Six silver candles are permanently lit on the main altar (apparently when the Chapel was bombed in 1944 and many lost their lives, the six candles remained lit)!!

It wasn’t long before Cath became Mrs Cath Lyons and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house including mine.  I then had the pleasure of taking some group photos outside the Chapel and then had some time with the newlyweds.  We even managed to have the pleasure of meeting some Chelsea Pensioners before quickly heading across to St James’ Park for some beautiful autumn background shots (trying not to get mobbed by tourists who quite fancy taking photos of Dan when he is in his uniform..).  We then dashed back to The Union Jack Club in a black cab for the reception and one of the most touching gestures of the day was that the cabbie didn’t charge us for the ride.  Everyone brought their dancing feet and danced the night away.  Here are the highlights of the day with more posted in the Client Gallery. More to come very soon.  They are currently available to view without a password.  Please get in touch with Cath for the password if you can’t see them.
